Throughout the year take part in the
magic that the directing staff and members of the Pennsylvania
Renaissance Faire's Professional Acting Company bring to life in the
beautiful 200 year old Victorian Mount Hope Mansion.
Victorian Mount Hope Mansion served as the
summer residence of five generations of the Lancaster County Grubb
family - wealthy early American iron masters. The Mansion and
surrounding gardens have been placed on the National Register of
Historic Places by the United States Government.

Shakespeare & A
Classic – April 19-30
The excitement and vivid imagery of
William Shakespeare, plus the riveting drama of a literary
classic unfold in the Theater In The Mansion Educational
Program’s production of Shakespeare & A Classic.
Each spring, we pair one of Shakespeare’s timeless works
with a piece of treasured classical literature and present
them in two 45-minute productions, each followed by a
student/actor question and answer session. |

Poe Evermore –
November 1-17
Inside the imposing sandstone Victorian
Mount Hope Mansion, Edgar Allan Poe and his characters and
contemporaries wait to spin tales of mystery, horror and
suspense. Each performance features three chilling works of
the Master of the Macabre, plus his enduring poem, The
Raven. Poe’s stories spring to life in the intimate
theater rooms of the Mansion creating an outing your
students will long remember. |

A Dickens of a
Christmas – November 29 – December 17
It’s hard to imagine a more conducive
setting for witnessing and understanding the timeless
works of one of the most noted writers of the 19th century
than Victorian Mount Hope Mansion where, for the 20th
consecutive year, “A Dickens Of A Christmas” will be
showcasing the immortal Charles Dickens at his best.
Students will enjoy Holiday performances by some of the
most notable, and unforgettable characters that Dickens
ever penned. |

School Days at the
Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire – September/October
|
|
For six day in the fall, students
attend School Days at the Faire where they revisit the
days of yore springing to life before their very eyes,
participate in spirited competitions and frolic with Queen
Elizabeth I, the nobility of her court, William
Shakespeare, and the peasants and villagers of the 35-acre
Tudor Village devoted to education and merriment during
School Days at the Faire. |

To truly know a writer’s
work, one must get to know the setting that inspired it or
sheltered the writer during his creation of it. One of
those places is Picturesque New England which
fostered some of the finest writing in American letters
from unique and powerful authors, including Hawthorne,
Thoreau, Emerson, Melville, and Frost. Allow your students
